A Message from the
Head Librarian

Welcome to your second week of class. By now, you should feel comfortable with the course website, you should have ordered your text books and have begun reading them, and you should have added the necessary software and email functions to your computer that were outlined last week. If you haven't accomplished these tasks, go back to last weeks lessons and follow the lessons and activities provided. Please do not proceed until you have completed them.

Your goals this week are to:

  • Identify how reflection and research differ and the benefits of each.
  • Identify why research and investigative skills are important for professional educators.
  • Identify the steps in the research process.
  • Begin to identify and define problems that can be addressed using investigative strategies.

Don't Forget Your
Library Card!

Some tasks that need to be completed before you proceed to page 2 of this week's lesson:

If you have not yet received your textbook,  you may download a copy of chapters 1 and 2.  (Note:  Only the first two chapters are available in electronic format.  If necessary, contact your book vendor to check the status of your order or to expedite shipping.)

You will need Adobe Reader to open the files.  If you do not have Adobe Reader installed on your computer, complete Task #1 from the week 1 lesson.
