GIVE TO THE UWF ABA FOUNDATION
UWF has an internationally recognized program in Applied Behavior Analysis that provides all curriculum and supervision requirements needed for applicants to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board undergraduate & graduate level examinations.
As such, this program distguishes UWF as one of ten universities worldwide approved to offer this breadth and depth of curriculum and experience at all levels.
IMPACT ON OUR COMMUNITY
- Provides professional training for practitioners to work with children diagnosed with autism and other disabilities in our area.
- Our students serve in research and demonstration projects across Northwest FL and Southern AL as part of the UWF Consortium for Applied Behavior Analysis
- Our graduates served as coaches for Kids for Camp in association with the Autism Society of the Panhandle this summer, providing supervision and training for about 70 local people who had an interest in working with children with autism
- Our graduates are employed at Escambia Westgate School, serving children in our community most in need.
- Our graduates have been employed with local school districts to oversee behavioral programming (Baldwin, AL, Escambia, FL, and Santa Rosa, FL).
- Our graduates work in private practice providing services to children in home and community settings.
WHAT WE'VE ACCOMPISHED THIS YEAR...
- Hosted a 6-day training for approximately 70 local teachers, teacher assistants, and others interested in learning how to work with children with Autism.
- Provided incentives/rewards for participation and progress toward teacher competencies.
- Provided lunches for seminar participants who attend 7:30am to 4:30 daily.
- Funded local professionals to provide 1:1 on the job supervision and support for students training to become board certified.
- Funded research projects to assess best practices for our children
- Proposed an HBOT study in association with the Andrews Institute, Gulf Breeze, FL
- Completed the Child Choice study at Escambia Westgate
School
- Completed the Self-directed IEP study at Escambia Westgate
School
- Fund free intervention to children that could not afford intervention and do not have insurance (in development)
- Host a training for local teachers, teacher assistants, and others interested in learning how to work with children with Autism.
